Berkley selectmen advance mixed-use zoning framework based on survey of 241 residents. Chair Jennifer Vincent and members Tabitha K. McCrohan and Mark Horsfall heard a presentation from SRPEDD planner Chris Welch on draft concept plans for a Riverfront District, Village District, and Padelford Street area near Route 24, with the Riverfront District designated top priority for a Community One Stop grant.
The board discussed rezoning 31, 33, 35, and 35R Padelford Street using a Residential Overlay District model and creating a named commercial district. Members also agreed town counsel should draft language exempting municipal traffic-control signage from sign-bylaw flashing-light prohibitions and will revisit with MassDOT the feasibility of a traffic signal at Church Street and Myricks as a longer-term safety solution.
