Selectmen advance Economic Development Plan with SRPEDD consultant input

misc · Meeting of April 16, 2026

Berkley Selectmen and Planning Board review comprehensive Economic Development Plan update with SRPEDD. Principal planner Chris Welch presented town-wide recommendations including pedestrian corridor improvements, design guidelines for village and riverfront overlay districts, and water and sewer infrastructure upgrades identified as critical growth constraints. The board discussed zoning strategies to enable light industrial and flex-space uses at Myricks Airport and mixed-use riverfront development, with Town Administrator Matthew Chabot noting that high-density riverfront scenarios depend on expanded infrastructure and inter-municipal agreements with Taunton.

Members committed to holding an open house in early June before bringing zoning warrant articles to the June Annual Town Meeting.
