The Town of Berkley announced road closure, parking and event details Oct. 19 for Halloween on the Common, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 30 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
North Main Street, from Locust Street to Porter Street, will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning at 4 p.m. on Oct. 30 and will remain closed until approximately 9 p.m. Residents and motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes during that time.
Parking will be available at the BayCoast Bank parking lot and Berkley Middle School. Nose-in parking will be permitted on the Town Common side of Porter Street. The small parking lot on the Town Common will be reserved for town employees and event volunteers. Accessible parking will be available at Berkley Town Hall, approached from South Main Street with entry on the south side of the Town Common.
The event will follow a designated pedestrian route starting at the Town Common Baseball Field for the Berkley PTO's Trunk or Treat, crossing North Main Street to Town Hall's south entrance, continuing through the Public Safety Building for more festivities, and finishing at the Berkley Public Library after crossing the street. Attendees are asked to follow the route and directions from event staff and public safety personnel.
Town Hall has collected more than half of its goal of 6,000 individually wrapped pieces of candy, and donations will continue to be accepted through the week leading up to the event. Any candy collected beyond what is used at the event will be saved for other town celebrations during the winter.
