Berkley library project aims for $10 million design cost reduction. The Library Building Committee met with project managers from CHA, which is overseeing the building initiative, to discuss recruiting a designer and refining cost estimates. The committee learned the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners requires designs at a conceptual to schematic level of detail.
Project estimates currently stand at $16 million, but the committee aims to reduce that to approximately $10 million. Carol Buote and Matt Chabot were tasked with reviewing the request for proposals at the earliest possible date to evaluate designer candidates by the next meeting on July 7.
