Berkley Town Meeting approves $27.7M operating budget for FY27.
Town Meeting · Meeting of June 25, 2026
Berkley approves $27.7M operating budget and authorizes fire apparatus borrowing. The Town Meeting voted unanimously to adopt the FY2027 budget raising $7,194,515 from taxation, $140,000 from certified free cash, and $535,000 from ambulance fees, with debate centered on an 8 percent salary increase for the Town Accountant and expanded staffing in the Building Department. Selectman Vincent defended both as necessary to municipal operations and code enforcement.
The meeting also approved $3,867,340 in debt service for school construction and regional assessments, though a proposed rezoning of Padelford Street parcels to General Business District was defeated after residents voiced concerns over buffer zones, water quality, and lack of Planning Board representation during discussion.
