misc · Meeting of January 28, 2026

Berkley selectmen green-light $74.2 million school construction contract. The board voted unanimously to authorize Chair Jennifer Vincent to execute all general contractor documents and award the Berkley Community School project to Great Builders. In parallel votes, the board appointed Mary Kate Moreau to the Conservation Commission through June 30, 2026, authorized the Highway Department to exceed snow and ice appropriations as winter demands require, and empowered Town Administrator Matthew Chabot to terminate the audit engagement with CBIZ CPAs over continued delays in completing the FY24 audit.

The board also voted unanimously to approve the 2026 Annual Town Election calendar and to send a formal letter to Taunton Mayor Shaunna O'Connell objecting to her social media post that compared Berkley's financial challenges unfavorably with Taunton's fiscal position.
